Story:
I was pleasantly surprised by the steadily rolling hills throughout most of this hike. There are a few bogs, which I'm not a big fan of, but lots of nice woodlands as well.
The side trip up Haven Hill to the old Edsel Ford lodge is well worth the climb. Pretty cool little bit of history up there - the old carriage house is still all there and plenty of interesting ruins of the lodge are right there at the very top of the hill.
I would say that this would be a moderately difficult trail for this area in normal conditions, although I must confess it all but killed me today slogging through 6-8" of squishy, energy-sapping snow. I definitely look forward to coming back when the snow's all melted - should be a much more relaxing endeavor with a solid trail to walk on!
Oh, yeah - almost forgot! I had a very close encounter with a muskrat who apparently didn't see me until I fidgeted when he was just a few inches from my leg. He walked away after that, but looked surprisingly calm about the whole thing - never hurried or took what I would consider evasive maneuvers, just kind of bobbled on back up the trail for 20 yards or so to the point where I had first spotted him.
