Story:
This is a short 3.2 mile along the trail that is often called the "Crown Jewel" of the Oakridge area, home of "Mountain Bike Oregon". This section is the southern most part of this trail. After climbing about a mile from the trailhead, you reach the top of a hill. The view is stunning. From the top you can see the tiny town of Westfir just below, and the town of Oakridge in the distance. On a clear day you can see spectacular views of Diamond Peak.... Well worth the short climb.
To get there:
From Eugene, take I5 south to Oregon Highway east past the Lookout Reservoir... Take a left on Old Willamette road. Turn left on Wesfir/ N Fork Road. After 2 miles take a left on Winfrey road (crosses over the river) Follow this road taking a slight right turn on N Shore Road.. This road will be become Old Military road/Forest Road 5821.. After a several miles you will a Trailhead marker on the right. Park on the left side of the road.
