Story:
I first hiked this trail while taking a rock climbing class. At that time, we just hiked straight to a climbing spot and stayed put there for the day. So today, I decided to come back to explore the whole trail. You can find this hiking trail in Mission Trails regional park, east of San Diego. It is a short loop, but there is a lot altitude gain. Most of the trail is stair step like, and it has off shoots that lead to the top of a ridge via rock climbing. This is why the trail is officially named "Climber's Loop", rock climbing enthusiasts use this trail to access rock climbing routes with ropes and gear. You don't need rock climbing gear to enjoy this hike.

Tips:
Bring water to this hike. Even though is about only a mile, is steep and exposed to the sun. You will get thirsty. Be safe. Even though you do not need rock climbing gear to get to the high areas of the trail, you will have access to high places with near vertical drops. Parking in Mission Trails can get hectic, so parking near the trail head may not be an option. You may have to walk an extra mile on a paved road from the parking area to the trail head. Be aware that the designated parking areas have gates that close at 5pm.
