Story:
Our ride started from the Portland Basin museum and heritage centre in Ashton Under Lyne, which in itself you can spend a pleasant hour or so looking at the exhibits, along the Peak Forest canal to Marple Junction, which meets up with the Macclesfield canal. There is lots to see and do in Marple so if you do visit allow yourself plenty of extra time. Unfortunately we didn't have the time and had to head straight back to Ashton, but what a lovely and most interesting ride we had. There are many Woodlands and Parks en-route and we will certainly be revisiting and allowing ourselves plenty of time to explore the many diversions along the canal and in Marple so watch this space.
