This is more than a tree ID trail. It is also a walk through history. The Tarrant County courthouse is located adjacent to the site of the original army fort Camp Worth. Camp Worth was established in 1849 on a bluff overlooking the confluence of the West Fork and the Clear Fork of the Trinity River.
The trail starts and ends at a group of Escarpment live oaks that were growing within the fort at the time it was occupied. Some foundation structures of the original fort remain along the bluff following the Trinity Trail.
