Story:
After crossing a beautiful little waterfall a few yards uphill from Route 17, this segment of the trail climbs up, over and along Pistapaug Mountain. The 400 foot ascent is moderate, with no exciting scrambles. Views of Pistapaug Pond appear as you reach the top. Views of the pond gradually expand and improve. Farms, horse corrals, large houses and water company land across the lake are visible through the trees. In some places the trail is quite close to the steep drop of several hundred feet to the pond. A moderate descent to Paug Gap (Howd Road) ends this segment.
