Story:
This loop starts at the turnout directly across from the Ponderosa Lodge turnoff. It ascends to the top of Sand Hill, descends down into Henry Cowell Park and crosses the lower trestle of Roaring Camp Railroad. For a short distance one follows the railroad track, then the trail ascends back up Bear Mountain. Half way up Bear Mountain, stay to the left and cross the upper loop of the Roaring Camp railroad track, hike around the left side of Bear Mountain, and return back to the turn out directly across from Ponderosa Lodge.

It's pretty sandy in some parts so wear high top shoes or boots for this hike.
