Story:

This takes you down the heavily wooded Sequalitchew Creek Canyon trail, a former narrow gauge railroad grade that was used to transport dynamite to a wharf on Puget Sound; you hear the babbling creek on your way, if you are lucky you may see ravens, owls, or a blue heron.  Once you get to Puget Sound take the beach, “at a minus tide to the jetty & at the end of the jetty is the Cement Boat.

As a kid we would hike out at low tide and camp overnight on the boat and fish as the tide came in.  The cement boat has split and tilted much more that it was 35 years ago.

Planning is need if you want to get out to the cement boat. You should be at the trail head 2 hours before low tide!  You can only get to the boat when the tide is below minus .5

The walk down the canyon take 30 minutes (without and distractions)

The hike along the gravel beach takes another 30 minutes to the jetting.

The walk out to the Cement Boat from the beach is another 15 minutes.

Remember you need to give yourself time to get back along the beach while the tide is out, if you geek off and the tide comes in you would need to climb up a steep bank and walk along a very active high speed train tracks to get back the Sequalitchew Creek Trail.
