On the northern leg, just after start, I met an really big squirrel, all red, but the size of a fox! In my homeland, they come much smaller !
Tips:
The northern leg is less nice to the feet, with uneven rocks and roots. I wouls suggest you start by there.

You may well decide to start trail from previous parking. It adds a few KM, but it is easy walk and night sightseeing (did that last time, in fact)
