I need a hiking group. This looks awesome. I am from Duncan and have never heard of Elk mountain. Only mt. scott.

@woodrell I use a free program called gpicsync that takes the time stamps from my photos, looks up the location at that time on my gps track (I use a Garmin 60cx) and then embeds the location data into the photo.

This is definitely one of my favorite hikes in the WWR. It\'s good for most people in reasonable health. Whatever you do, don\'t let your 13 year old niece and her friend convince you the best way to the top is across the boulder field and through the plum thickets. Trust me.

We have hiked boulder canyon up to the apple and pear several times.
I just got a new phone app that lets me sync the pics to the GPS coordinate.
Is that how you did your trip?

Fantastic hike. Great for getting into better shape for more advanced hiking. Oldest above ground mountain range in North America. Worth the travel to get to the Wichita Wildlife Refuge.
