Story:
I sneaked away from another trip I was on to do a quick mid-summer ski of Lassen Peak. Since it was so late season the easiest way to get up is to hike with skis on the pack. Snow coverage all the way to the trailhead was doubtful. I headed up anyways. The hike up is fairly quick and the ski down is even quicker. The coverage ended up being very good until traversing back towards to trailhead.

It was great when I skiied down at 9am. I'm guessing it would be a little too soft around noon.
