Story:
We put together a lot of the Dump area single track on this ride then dropped in to Mulkey Creek. What a great trail that is! Great trail but lots of stream crossings. Next time I will bring pruners and a saw and clean the trail up a bit.
Too bad there is not a better public access (Actually...see Tips below) to Mulkey than the steep drop from the ridge behind the Dump. For the better since it is hard for the 4wheelers to get in there and tear it all up.
From Mulkey Creek we found another really good singletrack up on to Mill Mtn. This led to a 2track that we followed down until we realized that it was going to private land. We bushwhacked across another drainage and headed for the highway and rode home on 28. The GPS batteries died so the track ends abruptly.

Tips:
Since this ride we have learned that there is a public access to Mulkey Creek. Though not an official access (yet), it is a good access non the less.
From the Barracks Lane trailhead go about a 1/2 mile on the single track and look for a cairn as you near the base of the foothills. Take this right and follow the trail along the "valley" to another cairn and take this left. Then follow this well defined game trail as it contours up the hillside to a fenceline then contours down into Mulkey. Enjoy.
