Story:

I hit the trail at 2:24pm; temperature is 96 F. Somehow I must've acclimatized - the heat doesn't bother me or slow me down today. The afternoon clouds are striking and I keep my camera's shutter clicking. Soldier's Pass Trail climbs up to Brins Mesa and I only see one couple on the trail - it's nice to have the afternoon to myself. Once up on the mesa, the recent fire's damage is evident. While the brush is thriving, the trees have yet to make any significant comeback. Lots of potential for interesting looking side trips up here - perhaps another day as I have a loop to complete. Hiking down to the Brins Mesa trailhead, I am treated to the best views of the trip, and take many photos. At the bottom, I turn right and ascend the Cibola Pass Trail to the saddle, then turn left and follow the ridge over to the Jordan Trail, which takes me back to my trailhead and the Jeep.
