Glacier National Park, west side. Lincoln Lake trail from Lake McDonald, 8.3 miles one way to Lincoln Lake and Beaver Chief Falls. This is not a good hiking trail but Lincoln Lake is really beautiful. The trail climbs out of the Lake McDonald Valley across a lateral glacial moraine. The first three miles are steady uphill and really steep in places, then you descend the other side of the moraine. Lincoln Lake is a glacial cirque with Beaver Chief Falls draining from the outlet of Lake Ellen Wilson above. A good ride.
Parking is very limited with a small parking lot adjacent to Going to the Sun Road. With a small two horse trailer you can pull straight into a parking place, big trailers and goosenecks are out of the question.
Lincoln Lake can also be reached via the Boundry Trail from Belton along the Middle Fork of the Flathead. This is longer but less steep and less traveled, I have not ridden this route yet.
