Story:
Douglas Mountain is a short hike that offers some great views of the western mountains of Maine, the White Mountains in Maine and New Hampsire and Sebago Lake. We've been taking the kids since they were preschoolers to the mountain and the stone tower at the summit never fails to get them excited about climbing to the top of it. We also don't care for the new trail head and Eagle Scout trail so we usually park at the new trail head and then walk up the road to the old trail head where the Ledges and Woods trail start. It's a nicer hike with better views up those trails. You can read more about our experience on the mountain in the Kid Tracks blog: http://raisingmaine.mainetoday.com/blogentry.html?id=8545
