851 Miles Solo Kayak, Etowah River Headwaters to the Gulf of Mexico.

In September, 2006, I started a 851 mile, solo kayak trek from Dahlonega, GA (NW of Lake Lanier in Georgia), to the Gulf of Mexico.

As far as anyone knows, I am the only person to have hiked up the NW Georgia hills to the actual headwaters of the Etowah River and then (from Dahlonega, GA), paddled the river down to where it runs into the Mobile Bay (the Gulf of Mexico).  I've seen more of this river than the Riverkeeper!
