Story:
David and I arrived in Cusco around 7 in the morning, took a taxi to the main square, the Plaza de Armas, and then had no idea how we were going to find out friend Thomas. Luckily we found some wifi and received an email with information on the Hostel we would be staying at.
David and I arrived in Cusco around 7 in the morning, took a taxi to the main square, the Plaza de Armas, and then had no idea how we were going to find out friend Thomas. Luckily we found some wifi and received an email with information on the Hostel we would be staying at.
After we stashed our backpacks we walked around a large market looking at various alpaca clothing. Thomas and his other friends wanted to do more shopping but David and I wanted to see the city some more, so we parted ways and David and I hiked up to the town's ruins, Sacsayhuaman.
It is important to note that we had only about 3 hours of sleep and went from sea level to 12,000 feet, so hiking uphill was probably not the smartest idea. After some time at Sacsayhuamen we headed over to Cristo Blano, which lights up at night and is the only thing you can see in the hills. After that we went to another set of ruins before our headaches kicked in at full force and we needed to go back to the Hostel to sleep it off.
We got some pizza at a local Irish pub for dinner before going out to a local club for Thomas's birthday that night. It was quite an exhausting day, and a great way to start the trip.
