This is GPS tracking of the maiden voyage of Cutting Edge, a 42 feet cruiser to Keelung, Taiwan, in preparation for Keelung to Xiamen Race scheduled on 29th, May 2010. The delivery skipper is Mr MJ Ng, better known as Sam Gor in the yacht club. Crews include Sam Wong, CP Wong, KF Yong, Alex Leung and I. Shore supporting team are Henry Tsui and Luk. It is a motor assisted sailing. The first one third of voyage keeps closed to shore of Guandong to avoid the heavy sea caused by 15knot northeasterly wind. On the second night we sails east of Nanpeng Liedao. After that, we aim direct at the north tip of Taiwan, Fugueijiiao 富貴角. Thanks to the ocean current of Taiwan Strait which flows northward throughout our passage and southwesterly wind, we arrive Keelung in 80 hours. Initially the current speed is one knot as we start. The current builds up as we approach the north tip of Taiwan. At Fugueijiiao, it is 4 knot to our favor. Taiwan coast guard keeps close eye on their shore line. As we struggle with our gybing near Hsinchu, a Coast guard boat quietly checks on us at our stern. They are polite and friendly. We are warmly welcome by Taiwanese official in a small fishing port, Bik Sha Kong, next to Keelung.
