Story:
2 May 2010
Sunny and fine
22 - 28 degree Celsius
Relative humidity 65 - 95%
The weather was exceptionally fine this weekend. Time to challenge ourselves for a strenuous hike.
The trail followed mostly Wilson Trail stage 2 in the reverse direction. We took MTR and came out of Taikoo Shing MTR station from the Exit B. Turn left until we met Greig Road. Walk up the road until it turned left. There's a post sign pointing the way to Wilson Trail.
The initial part of the trail was well shaded. The brick stoves on the way are relics of War time. Walk along Mount Parker Road up the hills to enjoy the views of East Kowloon and East Hong Kong until a rest pavilion at the cross-road to go to either Tai Tam, Quarry Bay (where we came from) and Mount Butler.
The long uphill steps of Mount Butler led to the top at 417 M. The views from the survey post there were really nice - the whole East Kowloon could be seen up to Tseung Kwan O reclamation area, Tai Tam and Tai Tam Reservoir.
After having descended from Mount Butler, the path stretched along the bounds of Quarry. The next height to climb was Jardine's Lookout. That part was taxing for us to climb with fierce sun above and high temperature at the middle of day. I won't try it in heat of Summer, I'm sure.
The end-point of the trail was near Hong Kong Parkview.

Love the contrast between city and nature in Hong Kong... This trip and your photos greatly illustrate that.
