Story:
This is as classic a Noon Ride as you can get. A beautiful Fall day in early October. It's Monday so the route is plain vanilla around the loop, fast enough to work up a sweat, but not really fast. During the final sprint to the light at Stanford Ave and Junipero Serra, my speedo read 30mph, but the GPS doesn't show it. Anyone know why? The ride itself, not the to-ing and fro-ing, was about 58 minutes, so just about 21mph. Respectable, but not wearing. I've been out on days when we've come in at 53 minutes, and heard about faster rides back in the day when ... You know, these may be just another form of fisherman's tall tales.
