Story:
We took a nice hike through the Ohlone wilderness the weather was overcast all day with a couples hours of hard driving rain. My long distance hiking partner I completed the official trail in a day last year. So this year we deviated around and checked out a few new sites. Our first stop was discovery Peak then Rose Peak then upon reaching Sunol we dropped into Alameda Creek and visited the W tree then little Yosemite. At this point we had hiked near 20 miles with out seeing even one other hiker on the trail. As we walked the car path we say 3 models and photographers taking photos and video. Not some thing you see everyday. After a very short break we started up the back of Mission Peak this was the worst part of the rain and wind I just had a rain jacket and was completely soaked from the waist down for the second time today. We hiked out to Ohlone Collage to facilitate catching the bus easer. Rain stopped and Pants dried out on descent. Bus 217 was a little late but that gave us time to get in to some clean shirts and get packs organized. The GPS was saying 29 miles and we felt good we were slow with a moving time of 11:30 and 1:45 in breaks.

Tips:
This trail has a great Map for only 2 bucks 2.50 by mail. It is stamped with the date and is your wilderness permit good for day hiking for one year. We take a car to trail head in Del Valle have Ranger give you a tag to leave your car overnight. Then we take the bus #217 to Fremont BART then BART to home. Next Morning I bike to BART then get off in Pleasanton take the #10 Pleasanton Livermore Dublin Bus to Livermore Transit station C. http://www.lavta.org/schedules/route10.html Then ride my bike to the Car it’s a great way to stretch out the mussels the day after a 28 miler.
