lantau trail - fan lau fort

Story:
We took the #1 bus to the first stop after Shek Pik reservoir.  We hiked about 6km on the cement drainage path before following a trail that hugged the coast the rest of the way around to Tai O.

The fort was very cool to see, as well as the rock formations.

The hike wasn't very hard at all, there is almost no elevation gain the way we went (shek pik to Tai O) and it is gradual if there is any.

The walk along the West coast of Lantau was amazing, I've never seen beaches this clean in Hong Kong, they weren't pristine, but it was refreshing to see more sand than Styrofoam on them.

The overgrown jungle part of the trail seemed to go on for longer than I was expecting, but it really wasn't bad at all.  It reminded me of pretty much every trail I've hiked in New York and Vermont
Tips:
Bring more than 500ml of water...

Here's a little tip... 500ml of water CAN be okay on a cool, dry day as long as your hiking partner doesn't drink it for you. ;-)

It was still overgrown, I didn't notice much damage to the path and it wasn't hard to follow. We were in the jungle for about 1km but it did feel longer. None of the trip felt grueling, I recommend it for anyone that is in decent shape

How is the condition of the route from Tsin Yue Wan to Yi O? The bush was overgrown and part of the path was damaged by rain torrents I last took this trail. Would love to visit again with my family if it's not grueling to go through that part. Thanks.
