Story:
Hiked the entire Trans-Catalina Trail on Friday, April 2 through Sunday, April 4th, then hiked the short route back to Two Harbors to catch the ferry home.
A incredible hike, and a bit of a stretch for four days. Full trip report is at SoCal Hiker.net

Tips:
The ferry in/out of San Pedro is a big catamaran, and much smoother than the boats out of Dana Point. It's also the only way to get in/out of Two Harbors. Be sure to check the schedule though -- the trips from Two Harbors are limited.

Next time I do this, I'll stay the first night at Hermit Gulch in Avalon, then get an early start on the trail in the morning.
Doing this in three days (four, including the hike back from Parsons to Two Harbors) is a stretch. You could break up by adding an overnight stay in Little Harbor.
Springtime is beautiful. Everything is green and the wildflowers are in bloom. Much of the trail is fully exposed to the sun, making this less than ideal for the heat of summer.
