Story:
This was the last outing for my Webelos Den before bridging into Boy Scouts 5 days later.  We had 13 Webelos, 1 Boy Scout (Sam) and 7 dads.  We started the day by taking the Golden Eagle Ferry across the flooding Mississippi river, and then the free Brussel's ferry across the Illinois river. Almost had to call the Ferry's off due to the river bottom road being closed, but a St. Charles County Fireman drove through the flooded road right as we were sitting there contimplating what to do...He told us that we could make it through the water no problem, so we continued on.  That was cool!  Next stop, Pere Marquette State Park!   We got on the trail at 10am.  The boys did great on this trail.  It started a light rain a few miles in, but that was no problem.  We wanted to get 8.3 miles in so one of the boys could hit the 50miler mark.  After over 4hrs of hiking, we were at a point that would have got us to 8.5 miles, or we could take another route and get closer to 10 miles.  Nearly all the boys wanted to get the 10, so that's what we did.  I'm very proud of these guys.  They've come so far with their hiking skills.  Looking forward to seeing them continue with their hiking in Boy Scouts and beyond!
