Story:
Several others have told the story, so I'll be brief. We (Calipidder, DM, Vaudesir, Antonyw, Croyle) met at the park HQ at 9 intending to do a loop through the park. It was 36 degrees at HQ when I arrived - quite a bit colder than I had planned for.
At the park HQ they warned us about a trail closure that had us rethinking our route, but that ultimately didn't exist. I think we wound up doing the same route as we had planned, but counter-clockwise instead of clockwise. Still, even on the "open" trails there were lots of trees down across the trail, requiring some scrambles.
The falls were incredible...the pictures will have to tell the story. Really cool.
The last climb up to Mt McAbee was quite something. I stopped a few times to rest, but lived to tell the tale. It was good to get back to the cars and on to dinner.
Fun time!
