Story:

Statistics: Length: 29.4 km, Duration: 8:40 hours,  Vertical up: 1280 m, Vertical down: 528.3 m, Average speed: 3.4 km/h

We started with a hard uphill bike ride from down town to the entrance of the Shivapuri Reserve. From there it’s still 7 km climbing.  After that you will be rewarded with long descents through the woods. We cycled on parts of the path of the Helambu trekking. Shivapuri is a reserve of 144 square kilometers that has a lot of wildlife, birds and butterflies. Shivapuri, owns the almost highest peak of the Kathmandu valley (2732m) and is for that a beautiful vista point. The panoramic view of the Himalayas is overwhelming.

A good forested trail with Rhododendrons blooming in the spring adding a magical appeal, whilst the Himalayas again manifest also in full bloom as we enter Chisopani. We spent the night in Chisopani (which means “cold water”), which is a quiet and peaceful village on the way to Helambu.

From the rooftop of your resort having a north-east vista, we could enjoy a beautiful sunrise above the clouds and we could view the natural sloping terrain and vast flat lands of Paanchkal Valley. Helambu has one of the most beautiful Sherpa villages with awesome views of the Himalayan range. It's famous for its apples and the hospitality of its Sherpa people.
