Story:
I usually hike Coe after Turkey day but had a few days off before so decided to shoot down and do a nice solo hike today.

My original plan was to get out to Kelly Lake but after coming down off of Wasno Ridge and consulting the map I realized I'd be hiking out in the dark if I added those extra 3 miles or so.  I decided against that since I was alone and had some steep trails to descend.

The route is not too bad as far as Coe goes.  The Anza trail is nicely graded as is much of the Jackson trail.  The trail down to Domino pond is now one of my favorites in Coe,  it's a great little singletrack.  The reflections in Domino Pond were amazing,  I have a hard time telling the reflection pictures from pictures I took of the hillside.  I stayed at the pond for while enjoying the silence and a nice sandwich.

Coming back down to Coit I took Grapevine which is probably usually a pretty decent trail but some horses have torn it up so it's a little tough on the ankles for me.  There is however a great seasonal creek area with perhaps a couple of pretty decent waterfalls after a good rain.

This hike is most likely spectacular in April/May as you'd hit a lot of different wildflowers given the varying terrain, altitude and ecological zones.

Nice hike, good pictures. Thanks for the map info. I'm going to have to get down to Coe one day soon. I like to hike with my dog though and Coe doesn't allow them.

Hey Steve,

The best resource online for Coe trails is down for some reason, it's usually here: http://www.wlevey.com/coepark/ It has a complete listing of actual GPSr tracks for every trail in the park taken by a volunteer.

Whenever I hike Coe though I use the park map available from them. It's a huge two sided map and is very accurate with trails properly represented. You can get it here: http://www.coepark.org/map-intro.html

It's a lot of fun to just browse it occasionally so I'm on my third now I think ;-)

Get the plastic version, much more durable.

Your Trips are always a joy to check out.
However, I have to ask. I notice you and some others know the names of all the trails.
Where did you get the information from?
Is there a nice GPS trail maps software package you downloaded or something?
I got into GPS stuff after finding NO TRUE help on the internet. I could not believe no one had FREE maps you could download for your area. (Lots of crap for sale of course.) 1st tried finding and creating my own in Google Earth, then finally found everytrail.com... THANK GOD.

Any Helpful info on where to get detailed hiking and biking trails for free?
