Fall Creek Fall Hike Details

Story:
My first trip to this very beautiful park to check out some fall colors and see which mushrooms I can spot. I parked at Felton Empire road parking which starts off as oak woodland but quickly drops into deep Redwood forest. The trails follow creeks most of the way so you are treated to numerous waterfalls and some picturesque overlooks.
I stopped to check out the Lime Kilns which were really fascinating, it's great when history is preserved. I wimped out on a big hike and just headed up to the Barrel Mill site which was also worth the trip as there are plenty of aritfacts to check out.
A highly recommended park to explore, probably best in summer to beat the valley heat but it was really pretty in fall. In winter you'll be doing some creek wading on this route.
The day ended with some nice brews at Boulder Creek Brewing Co. Good fun.

Have to take this hike as soon as my GPS comes back from repair, however Wife is asking what kind of defense you have against large wild animals. Not a bad Question... Keep up the great work Antonyw We appreciate it.

wow, I didn't even know that park existed although I'm almost positive I've followed a couple of geocachers on one of its trails 3 years ago. Your map rings a bell. Awesome waterfall pics!

Hey Steve, Thanks for the nice comments. Camera is a Nikon D50 with just the 18-55 kit lens. No protection from big animals on this hike but I do usually have some pepper spray since I hike solo a lot. But I think if a Mt Lion wants ya you don't get much warning :-)
