Story:
Visited Monogahela for the first time. Took this hike because it was too cloudy up in the Cranberry area. It was a nice relief from hiking on rocks at Boar's Nest and on Spruce Knob. Trail is nice dirt/leaves primarily. It does get a bit monotonous on the second half as you wind back and forth among the "ribs" of the mountain, but the forest is pretty at that point. Views were limited because leaves were still on the trees -- no clearings with sight lines to other areas. Didn't spot any wildlife except squirrels. Trail is well marked with plastic blue diamonds. No other hikers spotted on the trail this day. Trail maintenance had recently been done around miles 5-7 recently to provide a wider footpath. (Note: I did go all the way back to the start of the loop, but GPS logger stopped a bit short. Actual trail length is about 9 miles.)
