Story:
This was trail running 28 miles around the Seven Devils in Hell's Canyon.
11 hours and 11,000 feet of elevation gain later, the trailhead was reached again. Rain, hail, and finally good weather. A long day, but an awesome area.

An all-time classic run for more than the hard-core ultrarunner. Love the pics. More like 11,000 feet total elevation change- 5500'-ish gain. My Garmin 310xt as well as 2 Idaho hiking guidebooks confirm this. Much easier if done counter clockwise as the big climbs are over early. Be very careful if doing this in late summer/fall, as the water sources are dry and it is "Devil"ishly hot and shade is scarce. A sweet spot would be first few weeks of July for water, decent footing and weather. Best temps would be fall (before snow), but a side-trip to one of the lakes may be necessary to fill-up. This year I'm hoping to break 5 for the loop.
