Story:
First real test of new shoes: Vibram FiveFingers. I picked a short route with lots of different terrain: steep ups and downs on trails and roads, gravel road, across a plowed field...
Shoes did great, but my calves are very sore two days later.
At first my heels hurt on pavement, but then I changed my stride a bit and the pain disappeared. The theory (see "Born to Run") is that today's athletic shoes teach us to run heel-first, and allow lots of muscles in our feet to atrophy. We'll see!

Tips:
My Garmin 205 battery died early on -- hence the bad track.
