Story:
Day 7 of "Psycho Cycle-Fest I."
Upper Three Creeks is a totally great ride about 10 miles in length. Sadly the last 1.5 miles of the GPS track was not recorded for reasons only known to Garmin. The loop is laid out in several books.
The ride itself has lots of vertical. The great thing is that the "up" is on dual track, the "down" is single track. It skirts the wilderness area and offers GREAT views of the Three Sisters and Broken Top.
Ride starts on a a very rough dirt road and climbs unrelentingly for the first few miles. It was tough but rideable on a single speed. I was passed by two motorcycles on the way up. Both very respectful of dust...
At the top, turn onto the Metolius-Windingo trail. Very well used and sandy. Riding is slow in spots but very pleasant and mostly flat.
At a well-signed junction turn off the hiking trail and get the several miles of awesome single track. There are many very challenging drops (rocks, logs, jumps, etc.). Totally great.
