Story:
Today was a great day for Route 66 old road adventures. We left Yukon in the morning and drove the old road into Oklahoma City. We spent the morning at the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial. I had been there before right after the bombing and saw the chain link fence, empty lot, and make shift memorial. The new memorial is beautiful and incorporates the outpouring of grief at the time. We then took the old road to Tulsa. The plus of the old road was it avoided the toll road! We also drove a long abandoned section of 66 which was a one lane paved road. They have added dirt shoulders but look at the pictures and try and imagine cars meeting on that road! We ended at our friends house outside of Baxter Springs, Kansas.
