This loop will take your through Rapidan Camp, the former retreat of President Hoover (the current Presidential Retreat is Camp David). The hike out takes you up and over Hazeltop.

There is a park ranger stationed at Rapidan Camp. He will give you a tour of the place.

If you want to visit Rapidan Camp, but don't want to do the hike, the park offers regularly scheduled van trips (from, I think, the Big Meadows Visitor Center).
