Story:
This hike leads from the Cades Cove campground in Great Smoky Mountains National Park up on Anthony Creek Trail and reaches campsite #9 after 2.9 miles. At 3.5 miles it meats the Bote Mountain Trail, an old road that ends after 0.3 miles. Another 1.4 miles and the trail meets the Appalachian Trail at Spence Field (mile 5.2). The hike then leads along the Appalachian Trail to Russel Field Shelter for 2.9 miles (mile 8.1) and then back down on the Russel Field Trail where it passes campsite #10 after 2.6 miles (mile 10.7). After another 0.9 miles the trail joins again with Anthony Creek Trail at mile 11.6 and leads back to the campground at mile 13.2.

This is a hike with A LOT of up! The shelters have been redone and are quite nice. Russell Field has a nice spring to obtain water. Anthony Creek is a horse trail so there are some loose rocks that will make poles a wonderful asset.
