Story:
Our family hiking trip started at Shek Mun Kap. It's an ancient path on the right side of Lo Hon Monastery leading the uphill way to Ngong Ping. I trailed this path some 30 years ago when I was a boy scout. It's thrilled to show my kids where I cooled myself in a stream back then and what we'd expect to see in the trail.

We had a quick lunch in the Ngong Ping Village before we visited the "Wisdom Path" where wooden pillars inscribed with scriptures are standing. We then took the Lantau trail, distinct pavement painted in yellow, to go down to Tung Chung. The wooden path is unique in Hong Kong. The wooden frame structures are built on the slope. The whole path is maintained as nearly a straight line the way the cable cars travel. The "Deep-V" wooden stairs is catchy for photos. The views from the Cable Car interim station at Nei Lak Shan to Airport and Tung Chung are spectacular.

Then we declined along the "NP360 rescue path". There must be thousands of stone steps. Just imagine going the other way during a hot summer day! We timely reached Yat Tung Estate before the dusk drew.

Total journey - 20.56km according to another GPS-r.

(The trip is resubmitted because EveryTrail web site lost the .gpx track in its system and the interface does not permit a replacement in the original trip description)
Tips:
1. Walking slowly, the uphill section from Shek Mun Kap to Ngong Ping is still suitable for all age.

2. Keep quiet. There are temples and monasteries along the path.

3. The road signs are very clear.

4. The starting point of Lantau trail, Nei Lak Shan section, is behind the Ngong Ping Village in front of the cable car station.
