Story:
Setting off on our second shore trail in the Bass Harbor Head area, we immediately fell in love with this trail, or should I say the final destination. Here a perfect blend of Ocean, Granite, Seashell Beach and Harbor combine to proivde an incredible final destination for a sunset and ultimately the end of great day in the Park. With tide pools to explore, shells to collect and of course oceans for little urchins to dive into when they lose their shovel, this shoreline is prime for a blanket and some realxation. Mommy managed to "find" a nice Diamond Sapphire tennis bracelet in a washed up lobster trap which of course enhanced the visit overall. Unfortunately, we did get cut a little short when J decided to dive head first into 48 degree Ocean water to recover his "Shobel". A must not miss hike as the your approach sunset, this easy trail will ba enjoyed by all!
Tips:
At the end of the Trail is a short 1/10 of a mile loop like the eye of a needle. Where that trail T Intersects the Main Trail offers one of the best Beach spots on Wonderland.

This trail was, as it was reviewed, an easy, flat walk on a gravel/packed dirt path. We got to the trail head around 10am on a Monday and the lot was already full with cars parking along the roadside. The first few yards were under the shade of tall hardwoods which was nice. Then it opened into more of a scrubby pine setting as we continued toward the water. It was very sunny and warm.

It was very easy and my 3 year old was able to do the trail in it's entirety in addition to the hour or more we played in the tidepools. We wore Crocs to hike and explore the tidepools and did fine. Just beware of the slippery seaweed that covers the rocks. It's dangerous, especially for the little ones. Plenty of open space to explore at low-tide, but also a very popular trail.

We encountered probably 100 people including several 'groups' of kids on some sort of class outing. Not my idea of a peaceful nature walk when I had to wait in line to go back down the trail to the car. It felt like I was at an amusement park. When we got back to the trail head, the cars lined the road for about 1/4 mile.

If you want an easy trail with quick results to the ocean, this is a good one. Maybe we just hit it at the wrong time of day. Some of our findings included: sea glass, lots of snails, sea anemone, lots of crabs, sea urchins.
