Story:
This is the real deal. Most mines one finds while hiking
are dark pits, but this is a specacular house-sized inclusion
of rose quartz within an inclusion of lava within the red
sandstones characteristic of the Colorado National Monument.
And within the quartz are sheets of mica, or at least what is
left after the really good stuff was carved out. Go see it
and take your camera.

Tips:
The Mica Mine is southwest of Grand Junction, Colorado and is
just outside the boundary of the Colorado National Monument.
Access is off Little Park Road.
