Story:
Backpacking trip in the southeastern Sierras west of Bishop.  We started at the South Lake trail head and went over Bishop Pass into the Dusy Basin. We continued into LeConte Canyon where we joined the John Muir trail which we took over Muir Pass to Wanda, Sapphire, and Evolution Lakes.  We continued down into Evolution Valley and then to the trail junction in Paiute Canyon.  From there we followed the trail along the river up the canyon to Hutcheson Meadow and then up and over Paiute Pass to the North Lake trail head.

The mileage shown here is a bit underestimated due to the coarse tracklog - actual mileage is about 55 miles for the loop.  Our trip also reflects rather short days of actual trail hiking so that there was also time for extra activities (fishing, sightseeing around camp, etc.).
