Story:
We hike a big loop in the canyons that flow around Upheaval Dome.
Tips:
The backcountry campsite at the junction with the upheaval dome crater trail looked inviting.

I also did this as a solo hike just last year, 2010. It was a fantastic hike, though I choose one of the hottest times of year to do this which I wouldn't recommend.

The hike is strenuous with some technical scrambling sections. You also need to have experience following cairns.

i did this as a solo hike counterclockwise (plus up into the crater and down to the Green River -- doubled the length) in about 1992; one of the most memorable hikes i've ever taken; loved the valley on the NE side of the dome
