Story:
This hike is a p2p (shuttle) hike, and is only a portion of the 17 mile long Ute Trail. The Ute Crossing to Upper Beaver Meadows section has a difference in elevation between it's trail-heads of 3,000'. As you'll note on the profile, there is an additional 800' of climbing, which must be descended. So all in all, be prepared for 3,800' of either climbing or descent...depending upon your choice of direction. And, Windy Gulch is steep.

It's an interesting hike, because you'll experience the wind-blown alpine tundra, and descend into the pine covered slope, skirting the lush, wet Ute Meadows along the way. You'll experience the joys of high-country diversity.
