Springtime is fabulous at Sunol Regional Wilderness in the Diablo Range in the East Bay northeast of San Jose and southeast of San Francisco. Wildflower season should take off in the next few weeks.

For this trip I focused on the water features: Alameda Creek in the ambitiously titled Little Yosemite area of the park, and the W. Tree Rock Scramble, which offers an excellent introduction to scrambling, though I got fed up with the constant clambering after a mile or so and hiked up and out.
