Story:
A great hike with a bonus return via Eagle Peak
This hike starts at the Mount Diablo State Park Mitchell Canyon Staging area. You begin a pleasant walk up Mitchell Canyon Road following the creek up the canyon. After about 2.5 miles we begin to ascend in earnest to Deer Flat for a snack stop. From here you can retrace your steps or opt for the more picturesque climb to Murchio Gap and the hike along the crest visiting Eagle and Twin Peaks. Great views are had as you walk the spine of the ridge-line, eventually passing Mitchell Rock as you descend to Oak Road to complete the hike.
