Story:
Three Peaks Middle is located in the Three Peaks Recreational Area near the cities of Enoch and Cedar City.
From I-15 take the middle interchange for Cedar City and proceed west on 200 North / Hwy - 56. Turn north on Lund Hwy and proceed to the Midvalley Road (several miles). At Midvalley Road turn west again and drive the 3.2 miles to Three Peaks Recreational Area. Past the main parking which includes a sign and 3 flag poles. The road turns to gravel. Follow the well maintained gravel road past a OHV staging area, turn left and follow the signs to Rocky Peak Trail (past the group camping area). A turnout, trail head and information sign exists surrounded by camping / picnic areas.
Follow the Rocky Peak Trail which is uneven, loose rock and gravel. An OHV trail is soon reached headed west. Using caution (ears & eyes) for OHV and mountain bikes, follow the trail west, wandering in and out of the many trail intersections keeping to a generally west direction.
Soon a main OHV trail climbs to the ridge line and turns south. Across a small draw is Three Peaks Middle. Hike along the trail until level with the cliff band. Hiking along the base of the cliff band is easy walking with interesting rock formations. Moss and Lichens grow abundantly on the north facing rock. At the first ramp turn south and climb to the rock ridge line.
Following the rocky ridge line to the summit for Three Peaks Middle. A summit cairn exists, but I could not locate a summit register. West across the massive valley it is easy to spot Table Butte in it's solitary position. South looking across the Third Peak is Granite Mountain and the iron mine. Eastward is Cedar City and Enoch, the beautiful 10,000 foot mountains of Windy Ridge, High Mountain and Blowhard Mountain. North is the Tushar Mountain range.

Three Peaks Recreational Area is a multi use area which offers a "diverse range of activities from the radio controlled flying field to area's endless miles of equestrian, mountain bike and OHV trails". The trails are dominated by mountain bikes and OHV.
Middle Peaks is easier to reach on an OHV or mountain bike.
Several times a year Three Peaks is home to 4x4 rock crawling competitions.
Restrooms, campsites and picnic areas are plentiful.
Water: 1 liter (62 degrees F) ** carry more during heat of day.
