Story:
4/24/12
Climbing trip with Jackie, Jim and Katie (10a/b, 10b/c, 10d, 10d, 11a). On our way back to the car we heard there was a hiking accident in the canyon, so we drove to the accident scene to see if we could help. The hiker fell about 30' from the top of division wall (pitch 1). Jeff a friend of Jackie and Jim's was a nurse who saw it happen. He quickly ran to the accident scene to help. An ambulance came and took the fallen hiker to a helicopter at the mouth of the canyon.
Update: 4/25/12
According to ksl it was actually a 75' fall. Yikes! This seems more correct since a climb below the spot where he fell was listed as 45'.
Fortunately, he is doing well. Brain swelling has gone down and according to his friend Kaity (who was hiking with him, not the Katie from out climbing group) one of the worst injuries is now a foot that must be operated on. Much better than a major organ. What a lucky guy!
