Story:
This hikes only 7 miles round trip but I guess the canyon added quite a few miles to the total. Not good GPS courage I guess.

The drive out there is interesting...32 miles of dirt road. Lousy directions form the books I referenced but eventually got there. Look for a bright range cone that will signal the right turn towards the canyon trailhead ( this is after 23 miles from SR 24).
Great hike...interesting to see 4 rock art panels along the hike. The first 1.2 miles is all down hill via slick rock and dry sand. Remember that what goes down much come back up (ug). After you hit the canyon floor, follow the cairns along the route. They will lead you to the various art panels. On the return trip, follow the river bed. The ground is more compact and easier to travel across. The dry sand is like hiking in deep beach sand and is exhausting especially if the temperatures are high. Take a breather at the Great Gallery and enjoy lunch before heading back up canyon. The hike out is quite daunting in the heat. 700 feet elevation change in 1.2 miles of dry sand is tough but doable.
Enjoy the journey.
Tips:
Bring los of water; get ready for sandy hiking; bring a zoom lens o get closer to the wall art.
