Story:
Not parking in the normal car park(s), the last car park (furthest from the Abbey), The Strid car park is very small you may only get 20 cars in at a push. The best bit about this car park is that they do not close the gates at 5pm so you can take that bit extra to complete your walk.

Today we (me Christopher(4) and Jessica (3)) Walked to the Cavendish car park via the "Strid" which is a very impressive bottle neck in the river (PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL HERE AS MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED OVER THE YEARS! KEEP AWAY FROM THE WATER THE ROCKS CAN BE SLIPPERY AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SWIM OUT!) Keeping a safe distance from the Strid this is a very nice walk although we got hailed and rained on! The Cavendish car park has a great cafe serving hot and cold food and ice cream.

We chose to take the direct route back which gives you a superb view of the river as you are much higher. You can from The Cavendish (pavilion) Car park cross the river and walk back on the other side of the river via Barden Bridge but this will take extra time.
Tips:
A great place to park for the day and the car park ticket can be used in all 3 of the main car parks.
There is a small cafe with a limited menu (the day we visited they had only been there for 2 weeks.)

Please take a lot of care at the Strid as it can be very dangerous there are lots of signs around to point this out and people have died here in the past.
