Story:
I hiked up Mt. Le Conte in Great Smoky Mtn. Natl. Park with my 2 brothers-in-law on Wednesday, June 8, 2011. It is one of the highest peaks within Great Smoky Mountain National Park and the tallest from immediate base to top in Tennessee. We took the Rainbow Falls Trail from the parking area up to the Le Conte lodge and then on to the summit. This GPS track was recorded using the My Tracks app by Google on my Droid2 phone; pictures also taken with the phone. Distance recorded by the My Tracks app of >10 mi is much farther than the actual trail length, which is ~7 miles. This is likely due to poor GPS signal at times along the path due to the mountain setting and the abundant tree cover. We hiked down the same day by the Bull Head Trail.

Long hike back down! Rough on the knees!
