James A Reed dedicated hiking trail - Missouri, United States

This trip was created using EveryTrail. Like what you see? Get the FREE iPhone App and share your trips.
Story:
Nice hike, but poorly blazed. Starts in woods on gravel (yuck), then turns into dirt trail alongside creek, crosses creek and climbs into bluffs with woods, glades and meadow. The map shows that you're supposed to exit through the meadow, but you'll miss the prettiest part if you do.
Tips:
The trail map suggests there's a trail midway across the creek, into the woods. There was one, but it's lost now. Just follow the creek to almost where the road crosses it. It is shallow, and you can hotfoot across the rocks if you're nimble. I was glad I had poles.
