Sloan Canyon is noted for its petroglyphs. There are many boulders like the one shown. I was not on this hike, but I've been to Sloan several times and helped the Nevada Rock Art Association document the art there. I'd recommend hiking boots, but you could go in sneakers. That's not my first option for hiking—ever.
Once you get into the wash, there is only one way to go—up the wash and over a few dry waterfalls. The trail is not marked for the most part but it doesn't have to be.

How about some info on the hike. Was it an organized group or friends? Was the trail easy, well marked? I thought someone was hiking in gym shoes. Are those pictographs or petroglyphs? Looked like a nice day for a hike, thanks for sharing
